Hello, my name is Adrian Serrano. I'm a glass technician.

When can a chip be repaired instead of replaced?

A windshield chip can often be repaired when it is small, shallow and away from the glass edges. The repair fills the chip with a clear resin that hardens under UV light. This lowers the chance that the chip spreads.

A long crack, or damage that goes through both layers of the glass, usually means a new windshield. Many shops also replace glass damaged in the driver's direct line of sight, since a repair can leave a faint mark.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your service. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your glass technician can tell you what applies to your own windshield.

Thanks for watching.
