Transcript

Hello, my name is Annika Brauer. I'm an audiologist.

How does a hearing test work?

A hearing test finds the softest sounds you can hear at different pitches. It often starts with questions about your hearing and a look into each ear with a small light.

You often sit in a quiet booth wearing headphones or earphones. You press a button or raise a hand each time you hear a tone, even a faint one. You might also repeat words spoken at different volumes. The results go on a chart called an audiogram.

Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your audiologist can explain what your own results mean.

Thanks for watching.
