Hello, my name is Armando Varela. I'm an aquatic therapist.
What happens in a pool therapy session?
A pool therapy session is therapy in warm water, guided by a therapist. The water supports part of the body's weight, which can make some movements easier. Moving through water also adds resistance that works the muscles.
Getting into the pool might use steps, a ramp or a lift. The therapist, in the water or at the edge, guides exercises such as walking, stretching, balance work and strengthening. Progress toward goals set with the therapist is tracked across sessions.
Call the office if you have questions about your visit or your care. This is general information, not personal instructions. Your therapist can explain what applies to you.
Thanks for watching.
