Hi, I'm Lawrence, a touch pool educator.

Can I touch the sea star?

Many aquarium touch pools have sea stars that you can gently touch. A staff member or volunteer often stands by the pool to show you how.

Before you touch, you might rinse your hands, so lotion stays out of the water. Then you rest two fingers softly on top of the sea star. Its skin might feel bumpy and rough. The sea star stays in the water, where it can breathe.

When you are done, you might wash your hands again.
